Sonnie's passion is working with youth, she founded a program called RubyGirl Teen Program a character education and prevention program. She has taken her music in over 15 prisons and juvenile centers and homeless shelters in Michigan. She serves on the Board of Incarcerated Youth Ministries, committee member for the Michigan Female Responsive Task Force with the Bureau of Juvenile Justice. Sonnie is the Praise & Worship Leader and Youth Director @ her home church "The ROAD". She is currently working on her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership with dreams of opening a school. Sonnie is married to Gospel Rapper (E.D. of The Gideon Crew) with one daughter (Paris). Sonnie is available as a guest speaker or workshop facilitator for (youth or women events). THE GIDEON CREW REQUESTED FOR BLACK HISTORY PROGRAMS AT 15 PRISONS IN ILLINOIS

(Detroit, MI). THE GIDEON CREW REQUESTED FOR BLACK HISTORY PROGRAMS AT 15 PRISONS IN ILLINOIS.

The most requested musical group at Milan (Michigan's only Federal Prison), gears up for a 15 Prison Tour. The Gideon Crew returns to Illinois for the 2nd year for Prison Fellowship's Black History Month programs, with an additional 10 prisons to share their music. Prison Fellowship is an International organization providing the message of Christ through various programs and services for the incarcerated and ex-offenders. www.prisonfellowship.org

E.D. (founding member of The Gideon Crew) says, "Performing in prisons is one of the platforms that God has called this group to and being able to relate to those behinds bars takes a special anointing and God has endowed us".

Hip-Hop is a musical genre that has been around for over 30 years and a style common to most behind bars. The Gideon Crew along with Sonnie Day will be the special musical guest during the programs, with guest speakers and volunteers on board to spread the gospel message.

The programs will occur over a five day period with at least three shows a day. The Gideon Crew is no stranger to prison ministry and has been called upon by Prison Chaplains, Prison Recreational Directors, and organizations with prison ministry focus.

The Gideon Crew is a hip-hop worship group located in Detroit, Michigan. The Gideon Crew are winners of  a Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Recording for their 2007 title cut "You Shoulda Killed Me When You Had Me". The Gideon Crew has performed in front of 10,000 men during Midnight Rumble a men event at Dr. R.A. Vernon , Pastor of The Word Church in Cleveland, Ohio. They have shared the stage with Grammy Nominated gospel artist "Deitrick Haddon" and televised in over 8 countries in 200 million homes on TCT & The Word Networks.

SONNIE DAY JOINS NORTH CAROLINA ORGANIZATION "FORGIVEN MINISTRY" BRINGING CHILDREN TO SPEND THE DAY WITH THEIR PARENT IN PRISON

DETROIT, MICHIGAN:  SONNIE DAY REJOINS NORTH CAROLINA BASED ORGANIZATION "FORGIVEN MINISTRY" WHO BRINGS CHILDREN INSIDE PRISON FOR A DAY WITH THEIR PARENT.

Detroit Independent Artist and 6 Time Detroit Music Award Winner "Sonnie Day" will visit 8 Michigan Prisons from February 2013 to November 2013 with Forgiven Ministry. Forgiven Ministry is a North Carolina based organization that has been serving in prison ministry for over 10 years. Sonnie Day will be the musical guest for the "One Day With God" camp, a program of Forgiven Ministry.

The “One Day with God” Camps began with a vision of one day inside prison walls where parent and child could reconcile with one another and spend time together with God-anointed mentors working beside them. The day includes games, crafts, lunch, music, clowns, an illusionist, face painting, and a parent and child quiet time. 
 
Sonnie Day is no stranger to prison ministry, she has performed in over 15 prisons in Michigan and 
5 in Illinois. She sits on the Board of Directors for Incarcerated Youth Ministries and has a personal connection with prisoners because of a her personal testimony. Sonnie will visit Macomb Correctional, Huron Valley, Cooper Street, Marquette, just to name a few.
